I found out i have a basketball tournament during the weekend of BBTB. Is it possible to get a cheaper price for registration to just go for a little bit on Friday to drop of my stuff, and then a little bit on Sunday to pick up my stuff, help clean up, and hang out for a bit?
Bill Ward said

I don't think so, but maybe we could let you display your stuff without registering, if you won't be participating in any of the activities, just setup and teardown.

ok thanks.

Okay, I have about five right now. all of them are to Minifig scale so will they be dwarfed in the Art area?
Bill Ward said

I have a few as well... Mine are 7-wide, so they don't really fit in the town area, but they are still minifig scale. If Lino M or Nathan Proudlove were coming, and bringing the stuff they bring to BrickCon, we could totally justify a separate theme area for the car models. But I don't think they are, and I don't know who else would bring cars. But we could probably fill out most of a table in the Art section at least.

Will thee be public day passes for family members of registered attendees (deluxe or otherwise). I remember last year that there was a sign-up list on-line somewhere. Are we doing the same for this year. If so, can you point me to the correct wiki page link. Thanks.

Yes but we haven't set up the wiki page for that. There will be an announcement when that is ready.

Morning Bill,
I was wondering if there was any determination on the collaborative display space as yet. Myself and another member of VirtuaLUG will be present and wish to display the groups collaborative project.
Regards,
Daniel Boone

Will there be setup time on Thurs. evening? We want to know if we should book a room at the hotel for Thurs. night.
Also, could we still get a $10 off admission if we book for the hotel later.
Thanks.
Bill Ward said

Thurs night setup is up in the air. We can go in and start setting up tables at 8pm, but no MOC or vendor setup for a few hours after that... maaaaaybe by 11 or so, but for now plan Friday morning 7am.
We're hoping the earlier events might (start to) clear out earlier, so we can get setup started earlier. We won't know that until closer to the event itself.
As for the hotel reservation, I would say yes you should reserve it from Thursday night ... If you decide to not stay there Thursday night, you can call the hotel to change your reservation as long as you do it before the cancellation policy (which I think would be 24 hours before, i.e., Wednesday night, but confirm it with the hotel and don't take my word for it!). And yes, we can do a refund of $10 from your badge if you give the confirmation ID for your hotel room.

BayLUG is separate. This wiki is only for Bricks by the Bay, which is a totally separate entity.

So if the Bricks Of Character theme is gone will it be replaced with a vehicle theme? (Like Planes Helicopters cars trucks etc.?)
Bill Ward said
at 10:35 am on Feb 20, 2012
I don't think we have enough of those for a whole theme.
Hans Dendauw said

Mr. Ward,
For those MOCs that are part of a large display, should we list them in a category for individual consideration?
Bill Ward said
at 12:22 pm on Feb 21, 2012
Yes, you may list them in the theme page as well as part of the large display. For example a space ship that is used in a diorama may be listed under Space as the ship itself, and the diorama listed under Large Displays. Just be sure to indicate "(part of Large Display X)" in the listing on the category page so the theme coordinator doesn't leave space for it.

I plan to bring a 64x64 stud MOC and 5-6 vehicles to display. Since there is no military theme where should I list my stuff?
Michael Javier said
at 10:46 pm on Feb 28, 2012
Do you have pics of them? Currently OPBF is full and we've already made our layout, etc. , but if there's room you can maybe squeeze in your MoC. We might not have extra room on our table though.
AJ said
at 5:09 pm on Feb 29, 2012
I didn't ask to join OPBF, I just wanted to know what theme to list my stuff in so I can have space at the con to display.
Russell Clark said
at 5:14 pm on Feb 29, 2012
It was just a suggestion by me since it is military. AJ, please feel free to put your MOCs in Town & Train. We have plenty of space. :)
Michael Javier said
at 6:41 pm on Feb 29, 2012
I know. For any military MoC's, I would suggest fantasy/historical or as Russel said, Town & Train. Since this is my first year registering, I didn't start a Modern Military or military Category. I probably will next year though.
Bill Ward said
at 6:48 pm on Feb 29, 2012
To have a full fledged category we probably need more than a few people to bring MOCs to fill a few tables worth. You could organize a separate military Large Display apart from OPBF. We've just sent the award list to the engraver, but it's not too late to add trophies if it looks like we have enough.
Russell Clark said

You might consider joining Operation Brick Freedom.

Michael Javier said

@Bill, as I said before, depending on my plans for next year, I might try to organize a military category for display next year. It's almost too late to start one now, but you're idea works. I'll start throwing the idea of a military section around FlickR soon.
Bill Ward said
at 9:47 pm on Feb 29, 2012
Since registration is already closed there's not much point in reaching out to flickr ... we would need to have more people already registered bringing in, and we'd need to get it organized this week.
Michael Javier said

Yeah, I was talking about for next year. I'm way tol booked working out stuff to work on anything else for BBTB2012, it's only 2-3 weekends away. Speaking of registration, I have a guy in OPBF who wasn't able to register, but has part of the display. He's 16. Can I bring him in as a guest on Friday? I know I can on Sunday, but can I bring him in as a guest on Friday since I know he's part of OPBF and a couple of other collaborations (i think). This way he can drop off his contributions and hang out for a bit. If not, it's fine, just wondering.
Bill Ward said

The guest program is for adults but he can come in and set up Friday and pick up Sunday.

Wait so I have a post apoc type model I I am confused wether to put it in town and train or fantisy and historical? I also have a few smaller models and I was wondering if I could put them with my post apoc model?
Bill Ward said
at 12:00 pm on Mar 4, 2012
It depends on the details of your model ... probably Space if it's science fiction / futuristic, or Town & Train if it's present day / alternate reality. Fantasy & Historical might work too, if it's about magic or alternate history.
spyarjun@... said
at 7:25 pm on Mar 4, 2012
Thanks I think I'll put it in Fantisy and Historical.

One last question: Is there a template for the MOC cards I can download or will there be some available when you register like last year?
Bill Ward said
at 11:58 pm on Mar 15, 2012
Both. The MOC card template was mailed out to the attendees mailing list already. We don't have them printed yet but will do it Friday morning.
